First off tell us a bit about Ray
Bigness...
Well he likes long walks, quiet dinners and rhythmic
weight lifting. Honestly do you really want to hear
about me? Im just your average little devil who
like's the gore....
How
long have you been tattooing for?
Ive been tattooing for about 11 years...
Who
have you apprenticed under?
I got my apprenticeship from a man named Al Creamer
of CNY Tattoo Co. I slaved and busted my ass, he was
a tuff man to work for and `I paid my dues....
What shops have you worked at?
Well I worked at CNY Tattoo then I moved New York
City to work at Forever Ink, and then moved on to
Astoria Queens to work at Fat Cat Tattoos. After that
I traveled to different places to do guest spots.
Ive been to Miami, New Orleans, Puerto Rico,
Philly etc.
What
made you choose tattooing as your profession?
At first I wanted to be a flash dancer but you have
to a certain weight. Then I wanted to couch geriatric
mud wrestling but they kept braking hips it was a
mess, so a biker guy got me into airbrushing because
he didnt want to see my talent go to waste.
When I got good enough I did his car. One day he gave
me a tattoo magazine to look at, it blew my mind that
you can put art work on someone and its there for
life. You can paint something for someone and over
years it gets sold or thrown away and forgotten but
a tattoo is forever, my work will all be remembered
and I like that...
Film,
music and books can you give some insight on what
your into? And how does it influence your tattooing?
I love music its a big part of what I do. If I paint
or tattoo or just draw I have to have music I listen
to. All kinds of music, speaking of if you play a
Barry Manilow record backwards he tells you to have
sex with a midget and join a circus. Anyway where
was I? Oh yeah music, I love all kinds industrial,
death metal, old school punk, metal, gangster rap,
instrumental, bluh bluh bluh. As far as movies I love
movies, you get great ideas out of movies. I love
horror the cheesier the better, the more gore and
twisted the happier I am. As for books mystery and
horror novels are always a plus. Sometimes I just
like to read weird shit on line about other peoples
mishaps...
Who
are your art influences?
Coop, Joe Coleman, Mitch OConnell,, Todd Schorr,
Robin Williams (not the actor) theres too many
to add
I
noticed while looking through your portfolio at devilmademedoitink.com
your style is well defined yet widely diversified
how did you get your work to this level?
Well I like to tattoo everything; I like to do it
all, were most artist stay with one thing you get
burned out way to quick if you stay with one style.
Don't get me wrong I love to tattoo weird and crazy
shit. One of my favorite things to do is tattoo shit
that makes people say "WHAT". But a butterfly
on a girls back pays the bills too. As for where do
I come up with this shit lets just say I have a fucked
up mind and a funny way of looking at things.
Tell
us more about your web site devilmademedoitink.com
I wanted to have a web site were I can show off my
art, express myself and sell crap that people just
might want. We are going to be making tattoo signs,
flash, and lots of weird things for the sickos, you
know who you are. Lets see, tee shirts, patches, stickers
and we have a message board were you sick fucks can
go and play. When it gets done there's going to be
lots of stories, horror and news. You know what, you
will have to go and see for your self so there.........
Ever
tattoo any famous people?
The closest I came to tattooing anybody famous is
when I lived in New York, I tattooed one of the guards
from the show on HBO OZ WOW...
Funniest
moment while tattooing someone?
There was this fat lady. She was so rude to everybody
in the shop and she even broke my chair, thats
how sickly over weight she was. I had to tattoo her
lower back, lucky me. Stretching the skin was like
rolling dough. So I had to have her straddle the chair
and I told her I was taping the picture of the tattoo
I was doing on her back, but it was a sign that read
LOOK AT MY BIG ASS." I kept calling in
the other shop people to look at it; she thought they
were looking at the tattoo... A word of advice why
be a asshole to a person with a needle...
Scariest
moment while tattooing someone?
Is when a person passes out. This one time this girl
got tattooed and her friends told her not to eat because
they said youll get sick. They got her worked
up so much that she passed out cold. She started to
twitched and her eyes rolled back in her head and
on top of that she pissed herself. Well heres
some info. You have to eat when you get tattooed.
Your blood sugar goes down so food = good. People
as for listening to your friends just go and experience
it for your self this way your heads not filled with
SHIT!!!!!
Art,
erotica and porn, what are your thoughts?
YES YES and HELL YES
Politics
and Religion any comments?
Do I have to? I hate bush and no I was never touched
when I was a alter boy. Hail Satan....
Tits
or Ass?
I was a similac baby so I like tits because I wasn't
breast feed. On the other hand I love big butts and
I cannot lie....
Iron
Maiden or Cannibal Corpse?
Hmmmmmm
mullets and spikes or growling and necrophilia?
I like them both.
The
Misfits or Black Flag ?
Come on now..
Dawn
of The Dead or The Texas Chainsaw Massacre?
Thats a tuff one. Running zombies or a fat guy who
like to wear other people skin. I would have to say
both
